What’s next for Dexter Morgan? Fans of Showtime’s iconic crime series are getting answers with Dexter: Resurrection, the latest chapter in the long-running franchise. Production began in New York in January 2025, and with a growing list of big-name cast members and returning favorites, this revival is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about shows of the year.
Showtime hasn’t shared full plot details yet, but based on what’s known so far, Dexter: Resurrection picks up after the events of Dexter: New Blood. While many assumed Dexter’s story ended there, this new series suggests he’s still very much alive and navigating a new chapter—this time in New York City.

Sources close to the production hint that the show will dive deeper into Dexter's complicated relationship with his son Harrison, who carries some dark tendencies of his own. Add in a handful of new faces with secrets of their own, and it sounds like Dexter’s world is about to get even more dangerous.
The cast brings together familiar characters and new additions, making this one of the most exciting lineups in the series' history.
Returning Cast:
Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan.
Jack Alcott is back as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son.
David Zayas reprises his role as Detective Angel Batista.

Dexter: Resurrection isn’t just a continuation—it’s part of a larger effort to expand the Dexter universe. With Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel series that premiered in late 2024, Showtime is building a complete picture of Dexter’s past and present. Original Sin quickly became the most streamed Showtime premiere in years, showing that the appetite for more Dexter stories is still going strong.
The big question is: Who will be next to wake up in Dexter’s murder room?
