Bronx Zoo’s Dinosaur Safari Roars Back with Bigger Dinosaurs and Bolder Tech

The Bronx Zoo’s beloved Dinosaur Safari returns Saturday, April 12—just in time for spring break—with more than 60 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs and pterosaurs, including 11 never-before-seen additions. These giants don’t just move and roar—they’re powered by cutting-edge animatronic tech, bringing prehistoric creatures to life for a new generation of explorers. The exhibit runs daily through November 2 and is included with general admission.
This year's safari goes beyond spectacle. Visitors can walk through a massive Mamenchisaurus ribcage tunnel, climb on a life-sized Sinraptor fossil, and take photos inside two hatching Maiasaura eggs. There’s also a fossil dig site for hands-on exploration, along with live field guides who share facts about extinction, evolution, and the ancient connection between dinosaurs and modern-day birds.
While Dinosaur Safari entertains, it also educates. Through storytelling and science, the Bronx Zoo highlights the importance of conservation and environmental awareness—a message that hits close to home in a borough where green spaces serve as learning hubs. This annual tradition isn’t just about dinos—it’s a way to spark curiosity in STEM, history, and the living world.
