Showtime, in collaboration with Paramount+, has announced the production of a new political espionage thriller series, The Agency. The series, currently in production in London, already features an impressive lineup of stars, including two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender, Tony Award winner Jeffrey Wright, and Golden Globe winner Richard Gere.

The Agency is a fresh adaptation of the critically acclaimed French drama Le Bureau des Légendes (The Bureau internationally). The original series, celebrated for its realistic portrayal of espionage, follows the daily lives and missions of agents within France's principal external security service. Showtime and Paramount+ aim to bring a similar level of intensity and authenticity to their adaptation.

Michael Fassbender, who both stars and executive produces the 10-episode series, is set to play Martian, a covert CIA agent forced to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station.

Fassbender, known for his roles in 'The Killer' and 'Next Goal Wins,' will be joined by Jeffrey Wright, who received praise for his performance in 'American Fiction.' Wright plays Henry, the Director of Operations and mentor to Martian.

Adding to the star power, Richard Gere will portray Bosko, the London Station Chief with a storied past. Gere's extensive filmography includes iconic roles in 'Pretty Woman' and 'Chicago.'
