Peacock Orders Thriller 'Long Bright River,' Executive Produced and Starring Emmy Winner Amanda Seyfried
The Sony Picture Television limited series Long Bright River adapted from the New York Times bestselling novel by Liz Moore, published in 2020, is a suspense thriller set in Philadelphia. Executive produced and starring Amanda Seyfried, known for her Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning performance as Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout (2022).
Premiering on Peacock, Long Bright River follows Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer assigned to patrol a Philadelphia neighborhood deeply affected by the opioid crisis. As a string of murders unfolds in the area, Mickey comes to the realization that her past may have connections to the case.
"Long Bright River tells a story about the collective power of an underserved community," said series creators and executive producers Liz Moore and Nikki Toscano. "We are thrilled that Amanda Seyfried will lead this series about how those initially perceived as victims can band together to regain their power. Moore's family history and her work with harm-reduction and community-service organizations in Philadelphia informed the series, which aims to portray with compassion the lives of those struggling with addiction and the family members who love them.”
Nikki Toscano (The Offer, Hunters) and Liz Moore (author of Long Bright River) are set to write and serve as executive producers, with Toscano taking on the role of showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Amanda Lewis will executive produce for Original Film, while Amy Pascal will handle executive producing duties for Pascal Pictures. Hagar Ben-Asher, acclaimed for her work on Bad Boy and Dead Women Walking, will direct and also executive produce the first episode.
