As summer approaches, many of us are planning our outdoor adventures and looking forward to sunny days. I'm in no way suggesting that you should stay inside all summer. I'll be out there myself, speed-walking around a track- attempting to bring sexy back. But for those days and nights when a glass of box wine and the cool embrace of air conditioning are calling you, here are some of the most talked-about streaming movies and TV shows for June you won't want to miss.

June 4: Star Wars: The Acolyte- Set in the waning days of the High Republic era, explores the darker side of the Force, delving into the emergence of hidden Sith adversaries.


Premiering on June 4, 2024, this live-action series follows Jedi Master Sol as he investigates a shocking crime spree linked to a dangerous warrior from his past. The series cast includes Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, and Carrie-Anne Moss. Created by Leslye Headland, the executive producers are Headland, Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef, with music by Michael Abels.

June 7: Hit Man: Inspired by an unbelievable true story, Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater's sunlit neo-noir rom-com stars Glen Powell (Top Gun Maverick) as strait-laced professor Gary Johnson, who moonlights as a fake hitman for the New Orleans Police Department.


Gifted at adopting various personas to catch criminals, Gary's life takes a morally dubious turn when he becomes attracted to Madison Masters played by Adria Arjona (Andor), a beautiful young woman seeking his services. Their steamy affair as she falls for his hitman persona, Ron, ignites a powder keg of deception and escalating stakes. Hitman, co-written by Linklater and Powell, is scheduled to stream on Netflix on June 7, 2024.

June 12: Presumed Innocent: Adapted from Scott Turow's New York Times bestselling novel, the series centers on a brutal murder that rocks the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney's office. The chief deputy prosecutor, Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal), becomes the prime suspect. As the investigation unfolds, Rusty struggles to keep his family and marriage intact amid mounting pressures.


Along with Gyllenhaal, the star-studded ensemble cast also includes Ruth Negga as Barbara Sabich, Bill Camp as Raymond Horgan, O-T Fagbenle as Nico Della Guardia, Chase Infiniti as Jaden Sabich, Elizabeth Marvel as Lorraine Horgan, Nana Mensah as Detective Alana Rodriguez, Renate Reinsve as Carolyn Polhemus, Peter Sarsgaard as Tommy Molto, and Kingston Rumi Southwick as Kyle Sabich.


Presumed Innocent will make its global debut on Apple TV+, premiering the first two episodes on Wednesday, June 12, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through July 24.

June 16: Hotel Cocaine: This MGM+ crime-thriller follows Roman Compte, a Cuban exile and CIA operative, as he manages the Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of Miami's cocaine scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Frequented by Florida businessmen, politicians, international narcos, and celebrities, the hotel is a hotbed of intrigue.


Danny Pino stars as Compte, with Michael Chiklis as Agent Zulio, Mark Feuerstein as Burton Greenberg, and Yul Vazquez as Nestor Cabal. New series regulars include Tania Watson, Corina Bradley, and Laura Gordon. Created by Chris Brancato and directed by Guillermo Navarro, who also executive produces alongside Brancato, Michael Panes, and Alfredo Barrios Jr. Hotel Cocaine premieres June 16, 2024 on MGM+.

June 23: Orphan Black: Echoes: Building on the success of the original series, Orphan Black: Echoes continues to explore the scientific manipulation of human existence, following a group of women unraveling the mystery of their identities amidst love and betrayal. Set in the near future, this new chapter delves deeper into their ongoing battles for survival, offering more of a high-stakes, character-driven story.


Krysten Ritter stars as Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, alongside Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, Rya Kihlstedt, and James Hiroyuki Liao.


Created by Anna Fishko, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, the show includes John Fawcett, co-creator of the original Orphan Black, as director and executive producer. The series premieres on AMC, BBC AMERICA, and streams on AMC+, on June 23 at 10 pm ET/PT.

June 26: Land of Women: A limited series starring and executive produced by Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria, follows Gala (Longoria), who, fleeing dangerous criminals after her husband's disappearance and financial scandal, seeks refuge in a quaint Spanish town with her mother and daughter. This town, filled with family secrets, challenges their attempt to start anew as gossip spreads.

 

Based on Sandra Barneda's bestselling novel, the series also stars legendary film and television star Carmen Maura (Oh Carmela, Volver) as Julia, newcomer Victoria Bazúa as Kate, Jim Kitson (The Red King) as Hank, and Amaury Nolasco (Hightown, Prison Break) as Kevin.


Shot in both English and Spanish, the series was created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, and Paula Fernández and is directed by Iris Award winner Carlos Sedes. The six-episode dramedy will make its global debut on June 26 2024 on Apple TV+.

June 27: My Lady Jane: Based on the 2016 historical fantasy novel by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows, My Lady Jane offers a humorous and imaginative retelling of Lady Jane Grey, who claimed the throne of England only to be executed after nine days


The cast of My Lady Jane is led by newcomer Emily Bader as Jane Grey, with Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) starring opposite her as Guildford Dudley, and Jordan Peters (Pirates) as King Edward. This Prime Video rom-com series is set to premiere with all eight episodes on June 27, 2024.
