Beyond The Gates, CBS Announces First Cast Members for Groundbreaking Daytime Drama

CBS has released the names of the first cast members for its highly anticipated daytime drama, 'Beyond the Gates,' set to premiere in early 2025. The series will focus on the Dupree family, a prestigious African American dynasty living in an upscale Maryland suburb.


Production is slated to begin later this fall in Atlanta. 'Beyond the Gates' marks a historic milestone as the first Black one-hour daytime drama to air on network television.

The Cast and Characters:

  • Tamara Tunie stars as Anita Dupree, the elegant and determined matriarch of the Dupree family. A former singer with roots in Chicago, Anita’s hard-earned success has shaped her strength and poise. Tunie’s storied career includes her long-running role on Law & Order: SVU and appearances in CBS series like Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.


  • Daphnee Duplaix plays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, Anita’s daughter and a successful psychiatrist. Warm and empathetic, Nicole’s life appears perfect, but underlying tensions challenge her seemingly flawless exterior. Duplaix is known for her NAACP Award-nominated role in One Life to Live.


  • Karla Mosley portrays Dani Dupree, the rebellious younger daughter who left her modeling career to become a devoted mother. Dani’s free-spirited nature often puts her at odds with her family. Mosley’s notable work includes her role on The Bold and the Beautiful, where she earned an NAACP Image Award nomination.



The Setting and Plot:

Set in a posh, gated community near Washington D.C., 'Beyond the Gates' explores the lives of the Duprees, a powerful family navigating their public image while concealing dark secrets behind their mansion’s walls. As the first Black daytime soap, the show highlights the wealth, status, and challenges within one of the most affluent African American communities in the U.S.

Production and Development:

Created by Michele Val Jean and executive produced by Sheila Ducksworth and produced by CBS Studios in partnership with the NAACP and P&G Studios, 'Beyond the Gates' is the first daytime soap to debut since Passions in 1999.
