Apple TV+ and Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine are joining forces once again to champion female-driven storytelling. They've announced Lucky, a new limited series starring Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), along with the highly anticipated second season of the psychological thriller Surface, featuring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Produced by Taylor-Joy and Witherspoon, Lucky is a drama based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley, a previous Reese’s Book Club selection. It follows a woman confronting her criminal past as she seeks to finally break free from its hold.

Sharing her excitement, Taylor-Joy said, "Hello Sunshine continues to champion women’s voices, and I’m thrilled to bring Lucky to life." The series will be co-showrun by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project) and Cassie Pappas (Silo), with Apple Studios producing.

Meanwhile, Surface, created by Veronica West and starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, returns for its second season on February 21, 2025. This new chapter takes Sophie (Mbatha-Raw) to London, where she navigates elite British society and unravels shocking scandals.

Returning cast members Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Millie Brady are joined by Emmy nominee Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso) and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire). Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine co-executive produce the series, with new episodes released weekly through April 2025.

Lucky and Surface add to the growing library from the Hello Sunshine and Apple TV+ partnership, which has already delivered hits like The Morning Show, Truth Be Told, and The Last Thing He Told Me. Upcoming projects include The Gorge, another collaboration with Taylor-Joy.
