Apple TV's Disclaimer Cast Attends Venice Film Festival Premiere Event: See Teaser Trailer

Apple TV unveiled its psychological thriller Disclaimer at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. Created and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men), the series is based on Renée Knight's bestselling debut novel.



Disclaimer will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, October 11, 2024, with the first two episodes available for streaming. Viewers can look forward to new episodes every Friday until the series concludes on November 15, 2024.

Told in seven chapters, the star-studded limited series follows Catherine Ravenscroft, an acclaimed journalist portrayed by Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett. Ravenscroft’s career has been built on exposing the dark secrets of others, but when she receives a mysterious novel in the mail, she is shocked to find herself at the center of its story—a story that threatens to unravel her life by revealing her hidden past.



As Catherine races to uncover the identity of the author, she faces the harrowing task of confronting her demons, with the fate of her family, including her husband Robert and son Nicholas, hanging in the balance.

Alongside Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett (Borderlands) as Catherine Ravenscroft and Kevin Kline (Bob's Burgers) as Stephen Brigstocke, the cast features a strong lineup of talent. Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) portrays Robert, while Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of The Dog) takes on the role of Nicholas.


Lesley Manville (Sherwood) plays Nancy, with Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Jonathan Brigstocke, Leila George (Animal Kingdom) as Young Catherine, and Hoyeon (Squid Game) as Kim. Indira Varma (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One) lends her voice as the narrator, rounding out the ensemble cast.

With such a powerhouse lineup, it's no wonder Disclaimer is generating so much buzz. The excitement is further fueled by the team behind the scenes, led by acclaimed director Alfonso Cuarón. The series boasts the talents of Academy Award winners Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman) and Bruno Delbonnel (The Tragedy of Macbeth, Darkest Hour) as directors of photography, with Finneas O’Connell, an Academy and Grammy Award winner known for No Time to Die and Barbie, providing the score.



Disclaimer is co-produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content, with Cuarón serving as executive producer alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine and the late Steve Golin. Cate Blanchett also takes on an executive producer role, with Renée Knight as co-executive producer.

The two-night event at the Venice International Film Festival was held at the iconic Palazzo del Cinema, the event saw the attendance of Hollywood’s elite. The premiere featured the first four episodes of the series on the opening night, with the remaining three episodes debuting the following evening.
