Fans of the cult horror story Rosemary’s Baby are in for a terrifying treat as Apartment 7A debuts on Paramount+ on Friday, September 27.

Directed by Natalie Erika James (Relic) and produced by John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) and Michael Bay (Transformers), this highly anticipated psychological thriller takes viewers deeper into the story of the Bramford building, one of the genre’s most iconic and nightmarish settings.

Serving as a prequel to the iconic 1968 horror film Rosemary's Baby, which starred Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes as the newlywed pair Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse, Apartment 7A explores the dark secrets and disturbing events that haunted the infamous Bramford building before Rosemary's unsettling encounter with Minnie and Roman Castevet in the original film.

Set in 1965 New York City, Apartment 7A follows the Terry Gionoffrio, an ambitious young dancer played by Julia Garner. Terry’s dreams of Broadway stardom come crashing down after a devastating injury derails her path to success.

Garner, who won a Golden Globe for her performance in Ozark, will also be featured in the forthcoming reboot of the 1941 classic monster film Wolf Man, slated for release by Universal Pictures in early 2025.

Terry is taken in by a wealthy older couple, played by two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest (The Birdcage) and Kevin McNally (of I, Claudius and Pirates of the Caribbean). Their luxurious home at the Bramford seems like a safe haven.

However, following a night that remains somewhat hazy in her memory, Terry's recent chance for achieving success, given by a neighbor who happens to be a prominent Broadway producer, soon turns into a nightmare as she starts to reveal dark truths hidden not just in Apartment 7A but throughout the entire complex.

Adapted from the best-selling 1960s horror novel, which has sold millions of copies, Rosemary's Baby introduced readers to the terrifying world of the Bramford, a luxurious building concealing unspeakable evil within its walls. Interestingly, the images of the Bramford building used in both the 1968 film and the upcoming prequel are based on New York City's famous Dakota building.

The Dakota, famous for its unsettling past and reported ghostly encounters, brings a sense of authenticity to the storyline of Rosemary's Baby. Constructed in the late 1800s, the building was once home to the Beatles legend John Lennon, who tragically lost his life there. The Dakota's eerie past provides a chilling atmosphere for Apartment 7A.

Along with Garner, Wiest, and McNally, the cast includes Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe, Cloud Atlas), Marli Siu (Everything I Know About Love), Andrew Buchan (All the Money in the World), Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean), and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka).

Based on Ira Levin's novel, the screenplay is written by Natalie Erika James, Christian White, and Skylar James, with the production team consisting of Krasinski, Bay, and Andrew Form.

For those who enjoy classic horror and psychological thrillers such as The Omen, Carrie, Psycho, and The Exorcist, as well as the Rosemary’s Baby series, Apartment 7A is a must-see to start your early Halloween festivities.

Set to be released soon, this prequel is expected to delve deeper into the mythology of the beloved cult classic movie, providing new excitement for both new viewers and loyal fans.
